Imagine Tomorrow –
The Way to Future Computing & Future Science

Towards Future Computing and the Science of the Future

“Imagine tomorrow” is the official slogan for ISC High-Performance 2023. But what does that mean for supercomputing, AI and quantum technologies? At the LRZ, we’ve accepted the challenge to find solutions to the questions, that drive our industry already today – and to do the possible. Why? Because it is in our DNA to support our users as best as we can an always be one step ahead to providing the latest technologies. Opening up new avenues for our users and increasing their time-to-solution is what really matters to us.

Meet us at ISC23 - booth #801

High-performance is not only delivered by our systems, it’s being achieved in as a team effort: That is why our experts at the LRZ co-design and develop our next supercomputer together with various companies via an innovation partnership. Our technology partners HPE and Lenovo are currently installing prototypes at the LRZ for our future exascale-ready system. The main goal: Make the system the best fit for our users’ needs.

#DiscoverLRZ at ISC23

Meet our HR team and become a big reason for big science at LRZ

Quantum Computing

From music of the future to everyday rhythm: Step by step and in collaboration with our partners in science, technology and industry we are orchestrating quantum computing and bringing the new technology into everyday life in science and research.

Future Computing

With our ambitious Future Computing Program we are contributing to the tech offensive by the Free State of Bavaria - the Hightech Agenda Bayern. Welcome to our playground on the way to Exascale.

LRZ AI Systems

With AI techniques becoming more widely used, demand in HPC and AI resources  increases in various fields of science at the speed of light. Our answer: Integrating the power of HPC with artificial intelligence techniques - with our own systems, or with systems designed for our clients' needs.

SuperMUC-NG

Enabling word-class science: This is what SuperMUC-NG was built for. Since it has started user operations mid 2019, it ran nearly 2.1 million jobs using 8.2 billion core hours. From astrophysics and engineering to environmental computing and personalized medicine. Get to know our leadership-class system.

The German government is preparing the “Energy Efficiency Act” (Energieeffiyienzgesetz) that will impact data center operation in Germany. Supercomputing both consumes energy and helps co-develop energy efficiency solutions with partners. At the LRZ we are extending hot-water cooling to more of our machines and will produce our own electricity to keep leading in energy-efficient HPC by new initiatives.
